Het theorie-examenThe theory exam
  • Zodra je 17 jaar en 9 maanden (of ouder) bent, kun je het theorie-examen afleggen in een examencentrum naar keuze.As soon as you are 17 years and 9 months (or older), you can take the theory exam at an exam centre of your choice.
  • In het examencentrum worden via de computer 50 meerkeuzevragen gesteld.At the exam centre, 50 multiple-choice questions are asked via the computer.
  • Na het voorlezen van de vraag heb je nog 15 seconden antwoordtijd.After the question has been read out, you have 15 seconds left to answer.
  • Om geslaagd te zijn moet je minimaal 41 op 50 halen.To pass, you must score at least 41 out of 50.
  • Onmiddellijk na het examen verschijnt het resultaat op het computerscherm.The result appears on the computer screen immediately after the exam.
  • Je mag zo vaak herkansen als nodig is, maar je mag slechts eenmaal het examen afleggen op dezelfde dag.You may retake the exam as often as necessary, but you may only sit the exam once on the same day.
  • Je mag wel voor twee verschillende rijbewijzen op dezelfde dag een examen afleggen (vb voor A en B).You may, however, take an exam for two different driving licences on the same day (e.g. for A and B).
  • Het document waarop staat dat je geslaagd bent voor de theorie, blijft 3 jaar geldig.The document stating that you have passed the theory remains valid for 3 years.
  • Je moet vooraf geen afspraak maken. Vergeet niet je identiteitskaart en het examengeld.You do not need to make an appointment in advance. Do not forget your identity card and the exam fee.
Het rijbewijsThe driving licence

Om met een motorfiets te mogen rijden, heb je een rijbewijs A1 of A2 of A nodig, afhankelijk van het type motorfiets waarmee je wenst te rijden.To be allowed to ride a motorcycle, you need an A1, A2 or A driving licence, depending on the type of motorcycle you wish to ride.

Rijbewijs A1Driving licence A1
  • Motorfietsen met een maximale cilinderinhoud van 125 cc;Motorcycles with a maximum cylinder capacity of 125 cc;
  • Een maximumvermogen van 11 kW / 15 pk;A maximum power of 11 kW / 15 pk;

Rijbewijs A2Driving licence A2
  • Een maximumvermogen van 35 kW / 47 pk;A maximum power of 35 kW / 47 pk;
  • Een vermogen/gewichtsverhouding van maximum 0,2 kW / kg;A power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.2 kW / kg;
  • Je mag hiermee ook driewielers besturen (in Belgie en EU) met een vermogen tot 15 kW.With this you may also drive three-wheelers (in Belgium and the EU) with a power of up to 15 kW.
Rijbewijs ADriving licence A
  • Een maximumvermogen van meer dan 35 kW / 47 pk;A maximum power of more than 35 kW / 47 pk;
  • Je mag hiermee ook driewielers besturen (in Belgie en EU) met een vermogen van meer dan 15 kW.With this you may also drive three-wheelers (in Belgium and the EU) with a power of more than 15 kW.

Om een van deze rijbewijzen te bekomen, zijn er twee mogelijkheden:To obtain one of these driving licences, there are two options:

  • ofwel via de directe toegang;either via direct access;
  • ofwel via de progressieve opleiding of stap voor stap.or via the progressive training or step-by-step route.
